Tybee Island PD Prepares for Busy Labor Day Weekend

Law Enforcement Ramps Up Presence, Reminds Public of Safety Measures

Tybee Island, Georgia - With the Labor Day holiday weekend approaching, the Tybee Island Police Department (TIPD) is gearing up for an influx of visitors.

The department is taking several steps to ensure the safety of residents and tourists alike, including:

  • Increasing police patrols throughout the island
  • Enforcing traffic laws and DUI checkpoints
  • Partnering with other agencies, such as the Chatham County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia State Patrol

TIPD is also reminding the public of several safety measures they can take during the holiday weekend:

  • Be aware of your surroundings and report any suspicious activity
  • Lock your doors and windows when leaving your home or vehicle
  • Do not leave valuables unattended on the beach or in your car
  • Obey all traffic laws and be cautious of pedestrians and cyclists
  • Designate a sober driver if you plan to consume alcohol

"We want everyone to have a safe and enjoyable Labor Day weekend," said TIPD Chief Bob Bryson. "By working together, we can help ensure that this holiday is a memorable one for all the right reasons."
