Maple Leafs' Pacioretty recovering from wrist surgery, expected to miss start of season
Forward underwent surgery in July to repair torn meniscus
Canadiens' Gallagher out 3-5 months with lower-body injury
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Pacioretty is expected to miss the start of the regular season after undergoing wrist surgery in July. Pacioretty had surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his wrist, and is expected to be out for 4-6 weeks.
The 33-year-old forward is coming off a season in which he scored 19 goals and added 20 assists in 67 games with the Montreal Canadiens. He was acquired by the Maple Leafs in a trade with the Canadiens in July.
In other injury news, Montreal Canadiens forward Brendan Gallagher is expected to miss 3-5 months with a lower-body injury. Gallagher suffered the injury in a pre-season game against the Ottawa Senators on Sunday. The 30-year-old forward is coming off a season in which he scored 17 goals and added 22 assists in 62 games with the Canadiens.
The Canadiens are already without forward Jonathan Drouin, who is out indefinitely with a wrist injury. The team is also without defenseman Shea Weber, who is out for the season with a foot injury.
