Silva on 'frustration' of cup exit, Traore and Newcastle
Fulham boss makes honest admission after defeat to Leeds
Marco Silva admits he is 'frustrated' with Fulham's Carabao Cup exit after they lost 2-0 to Leeds United on Tuesday night. The Whites were unable to respond after goals from Rodrigo and Crysencio Summerville sent Leeds through to the quarter-finals.
It was a disappointing night for Silva's side, who have now lost two of their last three games. They will be looking to bounce back when they face Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday. "We are frustrated because we wanted to go through to the next round," said Silva. "We started the game well and had some chances, but we didn't take them. "We conceded two goals from set-pieces, which is something we need to improve on. We will learn from our mistakes and come back stronger."
Traore closing in on Newcastle move
Wolves winger Adama Traore is closing in on a move to Newcastle United. The Magpies have been linked with a move for the Spaniard for some time, and they are now believed to be close to agreeing a deal. Traore is said to be keen on the move, and he is expected to undergo a medical with Newcastle in the coming days.
The 26-year-old has been a key player for Wolves since joining from Middlesbrough in 2018. He has scored 11 goals and provided 18 assists in 154 appearances for the club. Traore's pace and power would be a major asset for Newcastle, who are looking to strengthen their squad in the January transfer window.
The fee for Traore is expected to be in the region of £20 million. Newcastle are also interested in signing Reims striker Hugo Ekitike, but a deal for the Frenchman is proving to be more difficult to negotiate.
