Nolan Arenado's Walk-Off Grand Slam Wins It for Cardinals
Cardinals Defeat Brewers 10-6
The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 10-6 in extra innings on Monday night, thanks to a walk-off grand slam by Nolan Arenado.
Peralta's Struggles
Milwaukee's Freddy Peralta started the game and pitched well, but he ran into trouble in the ninth inning. He allowed two singles and a walk to load the bases with one out. Devin Williams then came on in relief and struck out Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Gorman to strand three and escape with a Brewers victory.
Williams' Blown Save
Williams returned to the mound in the 10th inning, but he struggled again. He allowed two runs on one hit, three walks, and a hit batsman while striking out two over two-thirds of an inning to take a blown save.
Cardinals' Comeback
The Cardinals took advantage of Williams' struggles and rallied for four runs in the 10th inning. Lars Nootbaar singled in the tying run, and Arenado followed with his walk-off grand slam.
Arenado's Heroics
Arenado's grand slam was his second of the season and the Cardinals' first walk-off grand slam since 2017.
The Cardinals are now 65-54 on the season and in first place in the NL Central.
