Mens Basketball Top 25 Preseason

AP Top 25 Preseason Men's College Basketball Rankings Released

Kansas Leads the Pack Heading into 2023-24 Season

North Carolina, Duke, and Purdue Round Out Top 4

The Associated Press Top 25 Preseason Men's College Basketball Rankings were released on Monday, with the University of Kansas claiming the top spot. The Jayhawks, who lost in the NCAA Tournament Final Four last season, received 46 of the 63 first-place votes, moving up three positions from their No. 4 ranking in the final poll of the 2022-23 season.

The University of North Carolina, the reigning NCAA Tournament runner-up, is ranked No. 2 in the preseason poll. The Tar Heels, who return four of their five starters from last season, received 11 first-place votes. Duke University is ranked No. 3, followed by Purdue University at No. 4. Marquette University, Michigan State University, Arkansas State University, Creighton University, Gonzaga University, and Texas University round out the top 10.

The biggest surprise in the preseason rankings is the absence of the University of Kentucky, who finished last season ranked No. 4 but is not ranked in the top 25 this year. The Wildcats will be without several key players from last season's team, including Oscar Tshiebwe, who was the National Player of the Year.

The 2023-24 college basketball regular season is set to begin on November 7th.
